Doyle Before my husband gave me a laptop, all I knew about surfing came from the 60s “Surfin ‘Songs of bands like the Beach Boys or Jan & Dean. Surfing is a beach on the ocean with large waves, not?
Never! As a grandmother of 65 years, mother of three grown children and three grandchildren have learned to surf without even getting wet. The secret lies in Doyle gave me this computer.
For two years, everything I did with the balance, my bank account and play games on the thing. Oh, I knew that access to the Internet and that people use their computers for browsing. They called it “surfing”. But I never thought that such activity was worth my time and energy. Now I know differently.
You see, I am an artist and watercolor paintings have been 22 years, but on July 23, 2008, I published my first website and began my art show-casing. It was the hardest, most frightening, the bravest and most rewarding thing I ever did in my life!
The irony is that my husband owns a computer company. Our oldest son works with him, and our youngest son is studying computer graphics in college. Our daughter is comfortable with his computer as it is with a trip to the salon. Yet I never bothered to expand my skills than computer and checkbook balancing.
When I finally realized that I need a website to sell my paintings in watercolor, I had no idea where to start.
Fortunately, I heard a presentation sponsored by a website builder. I registered and asked Doyle to come with me. He is the manufacturer of the product, and I bought the package.
The first element of the package was a day camp to start to enter. “This time I have my son 25 years, studying computer graphics. I thought – hmm – that could be useful later.
“Training camp ended, I was home alone and ready to go. My husband was at work. Infographic son was at school. The computer is on. I spread my notes, and opened the workbook … and …. Exactly. I could not remember the first thing she said “Boot Camp.”
I panicked! What had I done? Throw a lot of money? I had never even shopped online. Believe me. It’s true. With all the computer smart people who live under my roof, everything I had on my computer already has a bank account balance and play games.
Suddenly a glimmer of hope arises in my mind. I remembered that the measures proposed site direct telephone contact with his management team. My problem was solved. I do not know yet.
I think these people would talk about that “geek” talk. They apparently were members of the computer generation. “The young people who probably grew up without talking to a camera phone that are attached with a cord or without” rolling “a window of the car to the top or was down, or buy a Coke in green glass bottle for a penny!
Fortunately, my fear was unfounded. These people were polite, helpful, patient, friendly and willing to a language that I like “git ‘er done using. “In short, they have helped me build my website and put online.
